Tiger Barbs with Electric Yellow Cichlid.
I'm planning on buying an 80 gallon tank. I would like to put in it about 12-15 tiger barbs and some Electric Yellow Cichlid. Is it feasible ?

I read taht these cichlid are about the most docile of the afriquans ones. and that Barbs are good for a large range of water condition. whats your opinion ?

also how many yellow cichlid can I put in a 80 gallon tank, 47 inch wide about 20 deep.

thanks in advance !

I think that the cichlids prefer higher ph than the tiger barbs, but I would wait untill someone more experienced comes along.

from what I read the cichlid should be in about 7.2 to 8.0 ph

and barbs around 6 to 8. but I really dont know lol

The cichlids should be in a minimum of 7.4, although I'd try to get the ph up to 8. The issue is not just ph, but hardness. Tiger barbs require soft water, whereas the africans need hard water.

Something to help you decide. Test your source water for pH and Karbonate Hardness to see where it is. Whichever it is better for, choose that option.

Just a Suggestion

Electric yellows like high ph but tiger barbs like 6-6.8 ph. So you shouldn't add this fish in same aquarium. I propose you should buy electric yellow and cyrtocara moorii. I did it and now ı am very happy. They are great chiclids.
