sump or ready to use filters?

i need help guys.. i just bought a used 100G tank and there's a hole in the bottom, for sump.. to what the seller told me..

what do you think is much more better, make a sump or just buy a use-it-right-away kinda filter, that you don't have to build it.. what do you guys think? performance wise?

Much cheaper to build it yourself. It's not that hard either.
