Gourami with Dennison Barbs?
Can a single (or 2 or 3) gourami be kept with a school of Dennison barbs? School of barbs would be approx.6 to 10....
If so, what type of gourami(s)?
Tank is 100 gal and no mid-level fish, yet...
Well, it depends on the gourami, but yes, they should be fine. Gourami can be quite territorial, but with a 100 gallon tank you should be able to have 2 or 3 (again, depending on the species). Honey gourami are great because they are so unaggressive.
If I were to go with three gourami would I keep three honeys or one of each species? Say, a pearl, a blue & a honey, or some other combo?
Do I add the school of dennison barbs first, or the gouramis?
Do I add one gourami at a time, according to species, or do I add the three at the same time?
You could keep three honey, or three pearls, or a mixture of honey and pearls, they are the most peaceful gourami, so they shouldn't fight.
If you wanted a blue gourami I would only add one of those, and no other types of gourami. They can be much meaner and more territorial and would pick on the more docile gourami. They are also much larger, so they'd have an easy time bullying the smaller species.
Perfect- Honeys & Pearls it is. Should I add the gouramis before or after the Dennison barbs?? Thanks!
I'd probably add the gourami first as they are more shy and will appreciate getting used to the tank before all the hustle and bustle of the barbs. Just make sure it's well cycled for them :D
