Who is a small pleco?
Question regarding plecos:
Who puts out the least bioload and stay relatively small?
If there is such a thing as a small pleco?
Bristlenose plecos are one of the smaller ones, and neat looking too. If I remember correctly they are all pretty messy fish.
The smallest plec I have is a Peckoltia sp. No L number yet. They look simaler to L38 and L80. Take a look at my gallery if you want to see what it looks like. They only get to 2 3/8" TL so they are great in a smaller tank. Other than that I'd go with a Hypancistrus sp. Most only grow to 4" or so and don't make as much as a mess as other plecs do. HTH
Thanks, that was just the info I was looking for. I think Plecos are very interesting fish but I'm not fond of the incredible output! I purchased a tiny *common* (2 1/2") and I swear he quadrupled his size in 6 month's time. I moved him into the 100 gal where his mess increased ten fold. Probably due to the driftwood he starting comsuming. He is going to be moving to my outdoor pond where he can grow as big as he'd like. The pond has a jacuzzi size pump & filtration. Hey Mr. Big, Go Nuts!
Clown plecos also stay pretty small. I think they max out at about 5". They need driftwood in their diets, though.
