I usually seperate my males and females so numbers dont get out of hand. I had this guppy in the male tank because it seemed to have male parts and alot of color. But last week it started having a black dot and getting a big tummy!! It has orange and blue on the sides of the body that dont show up on the pic and it chases females. It is fairly young, about 3 months old. I am very confused
What do you guys think?
its a male.
he probably just has to poop lol
Great picture though :)
Female guppies are known to change sex sometimes, but I don't believe males can do it. Funky tail tho, I like!
I will keep checking it, maybe it will pass a massive poop! :)
I just noticed on the pic it has like a hallowen carved pumpkin mouth and eye desing on the tail...creepy
Thanks for the responses
HOW do you get shots like that? i have some guppies starting to show some really nice finnage and would love to take some photos to post.
Once the gonopodium is there, it's a male. The gonopodium is there. Quack, Ergo, Duck.
Incidentally, I got some odd livebearers in with a batch of feeder guppies and rescued them before my bushfish ate them. This afternoon, I got to see the gonopodium in action. Little male snuck up in a big female's blind spot, rotated his gonopodium through about 150º, and thrust it right into her vent. Repeatedly. Yeah! Fish pr0n! The little devil was relentless. And her already gravid and one of 5 females in the tank.
(I thought they were wild type mollies, but they may be some sort of limia.)
Yeah it took like 20 shots to get that pic, darn guppies are soo fast. You really need to fiddle alot with the camera settings. Fast shutter speed is always good.
Yeah finaly after close inspection (and putting on my glasses) the black dot at the back is on the skin and not inside the fish...Talk about a weird place to put a black dot...silly guppy
:D I too am a great amateur of fish porn .. really gets me going :D
