New corys today
4 Attachment(s)
A while ago we brought a pepper Cory home from my office tank after noting that he, a single cory, was being ravaged by the serpae tetra . I took over its management, rehomed a huge Pleco, started adding plants, driftwood and have plans to replace super deep gravel with sand and different fish.

So, here is a shot of the pepper right after introduction and one a few weeks later, last night. Note the increased dorsal fin area and much better colouration. Nobody is nipping him now.

Then a couple of shots of the new pepper corys in their new home. I take a longish time acclimatizing fish, 18 hours this time. They are a lot smaller than I thought they would be. I guess they are tank raised and not wild caught.

Good to see the improvement.

Corydoras paleatus will almost always be tank raised, or commercially raised anyway (sometimes in outdoor ponds in SE Asia or Florida) these days. Wild caught fish, which are more colourful [no surprise], will only be seen from direct importers sporadically, probably upon request. Same holds for the Corydoras aeneus. And C. panda and C. sterbai are now mainly tank raised, and there may be a couple others.

Funny thing about these new guys. Maybe it's just because they are new but I was sure that these were supposed to be bottom dwellers. They spend their time at the top constantly zooming around and doing what looks like eating off of the waterline. Constant bubbly noises, splashes and whatnot.

Little video clip of one of the corys with the barbs.

Your tanks looks really nice. I also introduced 6 corys to my tank yesterday. 3 of which are peppers. They are a similar size to your new ones.
Glad to see your rescued pepper is doing well too.

I'm not sure but I'd swear they've grown over the weekend. It might just be that they have some decent colour now.
