- - Depressed Krib?
|iamntbatman ||07-17-2008 06:30 PM |
I recently separated my krib pair to prevent them from spawning while I've still got their old batch of fry to get rid of. The male seems to be doing just fine (he's the one I moved) but the female is acting strange. She's been showing stressed coloration since I removed the male and has been sulking in a corner for about a week. I want her to get over it, but I also want the pair to get along again once the male is reintroduced. Do I need to worry about her?

We really need a "fishy psychologist" on this site. I have never seen so many "depressed" fish. lol
You probably should have moved the male. There may be a problem if you don;t reunite them to the female's tank. He has established his territory and may defend it against the intrusion of the female.
Could it be the female is simply not displaying the colors normally reseved for spawning activities? I would not worry. You removed the male and the female will no doubt continue to care for the young until they are old enough to sell or recieve credit for. :D
