May I have some help with feeding my Mollies?
Okay, I bought my fish yesterday. I have a male, and femal dalmation molly, and a black molly. My upside-down catfish died. (I don't think it was eating. What DO they eat?) I am currently feeding the a small amount of tropical fish food, that is semi-crushed (The flakes were too big, so I crushed them a little) at six 'o' clock every night. (I fed them a little this morning because they were scowering the tank for food) I am going to go to the market and but a blanched cucumber for them as well. How would I go about giving that to them? I have also heard algae discs would supplement their diet. I have heard about feeding them live things, but I don't know. Do they NEED to be fed live things? If I put sn algae disk in there, AND a cucumber, as well as feeding them flake food, will they become over-fed, and die?
I've never heard about feeding them a cucumber?? I would be careful with that not to create an ammonia spike. Personally, I would feed them a small amount of flakes in the morning and at night, and replace the morning feeding of flakes twice a week with some freeze-dried bloodworms or brine shrimp. As for the algae discs, I really know nothing about them, but if you do get them make sure that they are not too big for them to eat. If they are too big they will probably just sink to the botton and make a mess. Just my opinion.
Maybe your cat fish died because you tank is not cycled and overstocked?
I highly doubt your mollys were breeding in the bag while being transported. They probably wouldn't breed right in front of you never mind being scared and transported in a bag. Judging by your experience level, I would say you wouldn't know what them mating looks like, and they were probably just going insane from a shaky ride in a clear bag.

Which are better, Brine Shrimp or Blood-worms?
Are you ready to admit the fact that you've made a mistake and take the advice we at this fish forum have to offer? We were all begginers, and we have all made mistakes. I would be lying if I said the first time I got fish I didn't make a HUGE mistake and put to many fish in a small tank.
But then I came on this forum and got great advice from people who just really love this hobby and just want you help you out. We aren't evil and trying to crush your dreams of owning these fish, we just want to help you do it right and it saves you money, time and heartache from dead fish.
Please believe me when I say that the advice I have given you is correct and you should never believe your friends down at petsmart, even though there are 5 of them and one of me.
The only thing is, you had the power to not allow this to happen, but now that you have gone ahead and you did not heed my warnings, your going to have a lot of problems. And I would love to help you out. But only if your going to actually listen to what I am telling you rather then shrugging it of and listening to peoples whos number one concern is selling their products.
Little-Fizz, PLEASE, stop.
:? Stop what? I just offered an olive branch and to help you out, and you just ask me to stop?
