Peacock Eel problems

I was recently given a small peacock eel. I know that they like plenty of places to hide and also bury themselves during the day. I also know that the like live food like worms blood worms etc. The problem is even with all the plant and hiding spaces in my tank he never seems to come out. I figured that since they're nocturnal that he'd come out in the late evening or an hour or so after the lights go out, no such luck so far. I just wondered if anyone had any advice on feeding the little guy because I cant see to feed him if I cant find him. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
thanx

just put bloodworms or something like that in the tank right before you turn the lights off and the next morning see if he ate them
