Hi, i have a red Oscar and a albino tiger oscar sharing an aquarium and inside that aquarium is a half pipe log which both go in and out of and sleep in. Just recently I have noticed that the red oscar (the bigger of the two) is now swiming in and out of the log and carrying gravel in his mouth and spitting it out outside of the log, almost to point where you can see the glass of the bottom of the aquarium (theres like atleast 2 inches of gravel in there)
Could this be because the red oscar is a female?
maybe, there is also a posiability that there is spawning going on
how old,and how big are they?
It may just be arranging its hideout to its liking.
I doubt there spawning, most likely its just the red fixing its house up the way it likes it. Have you seen the fish vent?
yeah, gump thats what I'm sayin 8)
oscars rearange their tanks alot and they lay eggs on a large flat rock so i doubt they would be spawning in drift wood. they are just making it the way they want
lol and red oscars are always red, not when they are "in heat" lol
Your oscar is not crazy !
Cichlids dig a lot when males are spawning the like to build big piles of substrate.
mine rearrange there tank daily one will move the gravel one place and the next will move it somewhere else.
