New to FishForum - NEED HELP!
Good morning,

I am Tiphani. I am new to Fishforum. I started keeping a fish because my boyfriend has a saltwater tank and i wanted fish of my own. So, he bought me a betta. I named him Bluie becuz he is a blue male betta. I am having a issue with him. He is not eating and he stays at the bottom of the fish tank. When he does come up for air it seems as though hes not getting enough air and he has to come up and get a couple more breaths.

I'm worried is he dying? I change his tank every friday. I have the tank here at my job sitting on my desk. This is a starter tank. It came with food and the water purifier and the rocks. Everything is included. its like a little cube tank.

Tell me am i doing something wrong? Help

Though I do not know how large the tank is ,it sounds rather small. This type of tank in my view should have water changed at least every other day if not every day. You should use dechlorinator for new water you are adding and a small sponge filter found at most fish stores will help as well. Bettas also need heat. Ideally, he would be happiest in at least five gal. ten would be better. For now though , water changes with good dechlorinator that removes chlorine, chloramines, and ammonia is in order. You should also take care not to overfeed for this will cause water conditions to become unbearable for your fish. :)
