15 gal occupants

upgrading my 10 gal to a 15 gal. I'm thinkin 2 dwarf gouramis and a school of neon tetras... do i have enough room? Any other fish you guys may suggest?

The gouramis will stay up top, the neons in the middle, so I would recommend something for the bottom areas of the tank, such as corydoras or small loaches like kuhli loaches.

You don't expect a female dwarf gourami among the batches. Best get one only as you will not be able to obtain a female so easily anyway. Better yet, stick to sparkling gouramis. Not many dwarf gouramis lasted long enough due to the effects of the hormones laced in their foods to ensure sex change.

oh my gosh... i didnt even know that happened... thats kinda sad :( I was thinking about sparkling gourami too actually... thanks!

So how many tetra's should I get? And have never kept the neon tetra before... I've had barbs once. Are they pretty hardy? Also if I get loaches, how many? Dont want to over load the tank...use to keep mollies and platies in my bigger tank so im looking to change things up...

The kuhli loaches would ideally be in a group of at least six, although if you have at least three fish you should be ok. These fish tend to be very shy and reclusive if kept singly and will be much more active in groups.

The tetras should be in a group of at least six. Neons are actually not known to be one of the hardier fish, and usually people have better luck with cardinal tetras. I think they're a better looking fish than the neons anyway, as they get slightly bigger and have more color.

I have exactly the opposite experience of neons vs cardinals, so keep that in mind. Howzabout honey gouramis (Colisa chuna), smaller, more peaceful, and less inbred than regular dwarfs. Sparkling gouramis are good too.
