Protein Skimmer Nightmare
I tried the Remora HOB protein skimmer but the design created problems. My 36 gallon bowfront is sitting in a wall recess intended for a TV. Once the Remora arrived I had trouble figuring out how to configure the overflow with the available equipment and it looks as if I will be cutting it way too close clearance wise for the water return and the chance of water loss (electrical fire / problems) seems too great based on what I read when I attempted to find info about how to configure the overflow.
Does a protein skimmer exist that I can tuck away inside my 36 gallon tank without a huge risk? I am willing to accept a skimmer that may not work as well to have the safety of the skimmer we have in the chamber of the biocube. If it were to overflow the problem is contained in the tank.
I believe Hydor makes a "slim-skim" that make work for that application.
