When I first started out with my aquarium about a year ago, I did my research quite well for my fish, but one day I saw a pet store had turbo snails for sale and I thought no harm there to get one, but as I just found out recently, its actually a tulip snail. I dont know a whole lot about it and I couldnt find a whole lot of information about it online, but I did find out that they are carnivorous, as I did get another turbo snail and it ate it... eww. But I would like any information anyone can give me about my snail. Anything is much appreciated.

Well these snails are good scavengers but will eat invertibrets. So if you plan on having some i would probably remove it.

I seen a special on the discovery channel about them and they are a nuissence. Type in "TULIP SNAIL" In google and there will be a ton of info on it.

i did type it into google and i didnt get a whole lot...suprisingly. but i like him... hes real cool lookin and i dont mind him but im not sure what to feed him. i did get clams from my work, which is a resturant and he seemed to like them, as well as my hermits, but im afraid that they are freshwater and could possibly hurt them, so i stoped getting them. know of anywhere i can get saltwater feeder clams?

I have never heard of feeder clams, but the clams you get from work should be fine as long as they dont add anything to them. I use freshwater shrimp to feed my shrimp, anenome, and whatever else eats shrimp. If you like him just watch and make sure you dont get inverts that he will eat. Good luck with him. As I would never but something in my tank that would eat inverts. Another thing do you live near anyinlet to the ocean or ocean Because you can go to those and get clams for him to eat. I grab up about 12 clams from South Carolina and dozens of snails before I moved.

unfortunatly no i dont. im in ohio, and there isnt any saltwater near here lol i would love that tho. i might be moving to NC soon but not 100% sure yet. i did find some cheap clams online for sale, but they are for keepin, not feeding. some1 else told me not to give saltwater fish, freshwater food, so i was just making sure. and as far as i know and anyone at the resturant knows, they dont add anything to the clams. maybe ill investigate a lil more lol

I would say its safe to do it, because I have been giving the shrimp I buy at walmart to my inverts since I moved to maryland, because I used to get there food from the tidal pools in SC.
