Bristlenose pleco??
 

ive had him/her for a while now and i wanted to know if any one had an idea if he was a brisltenose pleco. sorry the picture isint the brightest

How long have you had the pleco for? It looks like a female ancistrus sp3 to me - my reason for thinking it's female is the absence of bristles :)

I was also thinking she was a female to Amphitrite. Ive had her since novemberish and she wasnt that much smaller. I also have what im sure is an albino bristlenose male which is smaller then this one and is growing bristles already? thanks :D

Know this thread is a little old but wanted to ask if that was amazon sword in the background... did the bristlenoses tear up those leaves?

I just added a amazon sword and am getting a bristlenose to control algae in my planted tank... heard they may tear up amazon swords but decided to give it a try anyway, maybe that was foolish... I also have a farlowella cat but he is spoiled rotten and only exclusively eats high grade marine algae sheets with added vitamins and a little garlic for flavor :P Tried to take it away (cause the back glass was covered with algae!) and he jetted across the tank like a mad man non-stop until I refilled it... crazy boy.

hehe yea sorry to say that was them, they both started to die but one started to sprout new leaves and so ive put that into my other tank, where it will be getting fertiliser and hopefully co2, and not catfish to eat it. Anubias nana, works as my catfish have tried to eat that but its to thick. what works for me also is feeding algae pellets/wafers, and zucchini, but as you have algae he/she might stay away from your sword until the algae is finished, then try the wafers like you feed your farlowella. good luck :D

:doh!: Oh well, I will try that I have a feeling that I'm not that lucky though :P

aww dont worry, since my pleco's have had algae pellets though they havent really been eating my plants :)
