My betta is not eating

My male betta has not eaten any pellets for 5 days now. He usualy eats 4-5 a day. He lies on the bottom (sometimes on his side) for 1-2 hours and then moves quickly to the surface for air and then goes back down again. I have canged the water but it has not made a difference. Please help.

do u have a heater in the tank because bettas need to be at 78 to thrive adding a heater would make ur betta much happier. plus how big is the tank?

BETTA EATING HABITS

HELLO TO EVERYONE:

I REALLY THINK THAT YOUR PROBLEM IS THE AMOUNT OF PELLETS YOU ARE GIVING TO YOUR BETTA. BETTAS SHOULD EAT ONLY 3 PELLETS A DAY. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU BEGIN A NEW EATING HABIT OF ONLY 3 PELLEST A DAY, GIVE HIM SOME TIME TO RECOVER, AND CONSULT YOUR PET STORE SPECIALIST FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER.

Well, I must respectfully disagree, it can't be the eating regimen if the fish isn't eating anything to begin with.

Also, you really can't simplify the diet of a fish to "3 pellets per day". Different age/size bettas have different needs, different foods have different amounts of nutritional value and a bettas diet should always be varied, it is not healthy to only feed one type of food every day. Bettas definitely need some greens in their diet as well as protein and fat.
