how long has she showed this behavior? are thee any signs of injury or anything on her body that isn't normally there? all of your water params seem to be in check so that cant be the problem. have you seen any aggression towards the fish in question?

Jodie 04-07-2013 03:16 PM

Nope all my fish are peacefully really an stick to there own. I sit an watch them for hours to work out each behaviours etc. anyways since we last spoke I took fish out of tank into a smaller one I have to babies in. I highered up main tank temp to around 80. In meantime I was watching fish in smaller tank, first she was still listless an then from no where perked up an began swimming, I left her there for a short while an ave now reintroduced her into main tank where's she's been swimming away. Watchin for around 30 mins an all seems good. Just nipped downstairs to have tea an will go back up an check on her xx

im stumped with what could have happened, the steps you are taking have been in the right direction IMO. just curious why you have raised the temp?

glad to hear she started acting normal though!

Jodie 04-07-2013 03:50 PM

Well my temp was around 75 an u know they do like it around 74-79 ish I think so thought I'd jus turn it up abit. Added an extra notch on areation too due to temp being raised slightly. I do noticed that every now an then she's wrapped around the filter nr bottom of tank, she's not huge she's pretty small but not small enough to be sucked up, but in order for her to be realised from filter suction I have to briefly turn off filter , have you come across this ? Am thinking of a possiable cause for behaviour .... 2 female platys heavily pregnant an am think male ones are very territorial over them due to them wanting the fry to themselves, maybe she feel slightly threatened due to there behaviour ? Just a thought ! Xx

Nitrite is a bit high, there should be no nitrite.

0.25 nitrite isn't too high and is expected in a newly setup tank. I wouldn't imagine that would have caused the behavior but then again you never know. the normal w/c will correct the nitrite though
