Help Me Build My lighting Hood
Im currently setting up my 30g long reef system and im stuck on the subject of lighting.
I've decided to go with two 70 watt HQI MH bulbs.
so far i've found
this ballast to run both lights (hopefully?)
I found this online. will a ballast designed to run two 150 watt bulbs properly and efficiently run two 70 watt bulbs?
2 of these as the reflectors
THe only 70 watt bulbs i've found are double ended (HQI) is that the only ones im going to find?
What range should i be looking at? i know that 6000k looks yellow and that the higher you go the more blue it becomes but what is the best for the health of corals and appearance?
Im not new to electrical work, just fish electrical work. Im getting my companies greybar catalog tomorrow will that make any of these things cheaper or will i even be able to find the same stuff?
Current tank Inhabitants : 1 ywg, 2 green chromis, 1 peppermint shrimp, soon to be 1 blood shrimp. I'd like to start off with some zooanthids or mushrooms and eventually build up to more challenging corals much later. its been running for just under two months now
Thanks for your time
I don't know much about marine lighting, but that first link to Marine Depot didn't work. Good luck!
