Red algae?!?!?!

I have what seems to be reddish brown algae growing in my pond! It has been up and running for about two weeks, no fish yet, with about a 5 gallon buckets worth of anacharis. What exactly is this and what do I do about it?

Red algae in a freshwater pond? Do you have pics?

It's not unusual. Red algae is often found even in river tanks where hillstream loaches are kept, growing on rocks. I have this in my river tanks.

Red algae must like unique water conditions then, eh? I have never experienced it in my years in the hobby except in a couple of "weirdo" tanks I kept years ago as experiments. But, it wasn't called "red algae" and I can't recall the name that referenced it.

LOL! I have actually wondered why the red algae appeared where loaches are concerned. The last time I had never kept loaches yet, I've never seen red algae but diatoms and green algae but red algae is more prominent now.

My camera is broken so I can't get any pics. I'm not sure it it IS algae, but it is red and wipes off easy enough. The pond does have a 10-12 foot stream and it it's kinda cool around here still. Should I just treat this like normal algae then?
