WOW,REALLY?. It had to take some time for your female to out grow and kill. But Thats the first time I heard of a female (eating) a male . convicts can be horrible.I breed them for a couple pet shops.pound for pound(Especially the Albinos) they are down right nasty when spawning . Last year,I was cleaning the inside of my breeding tank.I had a thumb tack sized scab on my wrist,It was already soft from washing my hands. My Breeder Female has always bit me, but that time she attached to my scab, wiggled and yanked. Before I realized it I was bleeding in her water and she was swimming around my hand with a scab the size of her eye in her mouth .Every cleaning day after that for weeks ,she always darted around my wrist and bit at the small red mark where that scab was.Now she is well over three inches and ruthless .
And yes she ate the scab.

My last female convict ate 3 males in a years time, and everything else I tried to keep her with. She even tore up african cichlids and all of the plecos I tried to keep in her tank. She ate 2 oscars that were more than double her size, and ended up in a 20 gallon tank alone until I could take her to the store to find her a new home.
Just because they're female doesn't mean they're less aggressive.
