Please help Identify
I have these little hard white spiral spots on the back glass and all over the filtering system. I tried to take a pic but couldn't get a clear one. Can someone please help me identify them?
I want to say Spirorbis. Resemble that at all?
I have those to, they almost look like some sort of casting, they are wierd and hard to scrape off. They are all over my thermometer and back glass, not the front, just the back side of the whole tank
yes i looked up Spirorbis Spirorbis and that looks like the species. It says they are worm that forms a calcerous shell. I couldn't find anything that said why they form in aquariums or if they are harmful. Does anyone know if they are harmful to an aquarium
They are safe. They are filter feeders and form in dark areas in the tank such as corners or the back wall (as you are experiencing). It is pretty common and basically means your tank is going along well.
Thank you I have been very worried.
do they have any positive influence on an aquarium? I already scraped a lot of them off this morning
Nothing that I know of. Just a good-progressing sign.
