Reduce Water Hardness Help

Hello, Im seeking some more advice! I need to soften my water up, was told to get some water pillow I find Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Water Softener Pillow that you put in your filter. Anybody have any other ideas for me or have used this?! I am currently running a Aqua-Tech 30-60 and an Emperor 400, if I go with the above listed how many would I need to put in my tank (55 gal). Thanks!

Could I ask why you want to soften your water? Most tap water is completely fine for common aquarium fish, as they are captive bred and can adapt to a wide range of water parameters. Of course, you'll need to mess with your water chemistry if you are wanting to keep something fragile like discus, but most fish are just fine.

2 of the fish that I want to keep that need soft water are Blue Ram and Dwarf Groumis. That is the reason I want to make my H2O a lil softer, right now it is at like 150 ppm if I remember correctly
