Species compatibility One day, I'd like to set up a brackish vivarium. I was hoping to have mudskippers, bumblebee gobies, and fiddler crabs. Do these species all get along? Also, could a dragon goby work as well? |

Keeping mudskippers alive and healthy is challenging, but they are fascinating fish. You'd have to do tons of research before considering building a tank for them, and have the menu fleshed out and ready to go BEFORE you buy the fish. Tank mates are questionable, as mudskippers are active preditors, but you might get away with gobies, long as the water is deep enough (two or three feet) and there are many places for the gobies to hide. Mudskippers are great, fascinating fish, but keeping them is completely different than anything else, so learn all you can about them and study hard, as mudskippers have a poor record in captivity, and that's due to ignorance of the keepers. Sorry...I meant the Indian mudskippers, not the African ones. Unlike the 7" Africans, the Indian varieties only get to about 1.5". Anyone ever kept these? |
