HELP!!!!

I have owned about 5 bettas now and I can't keep either one to live. I have a 2 gallon tank. I got the Betta yesterday and today he has fur like substance on his whole body and he is losing his color. Can someone help me and tell me what it is or how I can help him???

what are the water stats?
nitrite,nitrate and ammonia levels
also does the tank have a filter and heater in it?

the fur sounds like a fungul so you could treat with a med, i ususally say melafix, you might need to treat with something that is more localised to fungul,

I am not sure of the nitrite levels. I dont have a heater or a filter cause I didn't think I needed it cause the tank was soo small. I did a little searching in google and to me it sounds like ammonia.
Over night I have noticed that all the fur like substance is gone from his body but he still has a little on his head. I will have to try to find something for fungul too see if it works. Thank you for replying back.
