Water Quality.

I have never actaully looked into the tap water in my area until I set up my tank, but I am now quite impressed.

Chilliwack, BC, Canada - Where I live, won the best drinking water in Canada award in 1997 and 1999, and came second in 1998 (the award was discontinued after 1999)

Currently, the City does not use ANY chemicals to treat our tap water, no chlorine, no Chloramine, nothing.

I tested my tank water, it is quite soft, a GH of 3-5 and a KH of 5

My PH is 7.5.

Seems like good stuff to me.

That's awesome, I wanna move to CA! I saw an article a couple months ago, water in the US has antidepressants, pain killers, etc.. al kinds of pharmecuticals, not ALL the tap waterdoes, but it was higher then 50% that was tested. Makes you wonder....

Yeah, I saw a sketch show where they were making fun of that article (MAD TV, I think). But in all seriousness, anything like that in drinking water is terrible.

Gives some credibility to the people up here who think in 20 years our Big American Brother will be banging on our door for clean water of all things.

Must help to live next door, litterally, because the water here is just as pristine. Some chlorine added but that is state/federal regulations.

I am guessing by your location and "next door", you live in Washington State? Very beautiful place aswell. I consider British Columbia/Washington State (ie the Pacific Northwest) to be one of the most beautiful areas in the world.

Vancouver and Seattle are both really nice cities aswell.

Yep, I live in Washington. Can't say I like Seattle or Tacoma but that is a whole nother topic.

The water here is actually softer than yours, 0 KH and GH and a pH of 7.0 most of the time. Is hard to harden it up for some species but is nice to have such a neutral starting place so I can do whatever I want with it.
