Betta Fins...do they renew

I don't know if this went thru or not...it just popped out...can't find it in the forum...so here it goes again; sorry for the repeat.

I made a terrible mistake. I bought what I thought was a soft plastic plant for my betta; the other day I noticed that Mickey's fins were shredded; the only answer could be the new plant...which is now GONE. However, will Mickey's fins regain their previous glory?

They should grow back just fine. Make sure you keep your tank pristine and watch out for infection.

Do you have a heater/filter? What are your water parameters?

Betta Fins...do they renew

Mickey is new, so he is currently in a small glass container, no heater yet etc... I have a 2 gallon tank coming in for him. I know I've read this website about heaters etc., but I've never used one in my individual betta tanks before and they have survived for years. Just getting back into having them, and wanted to be more informed; so I found this website! I took out the plastic plant and put in a banana plant that the guy at the LFS said would be a good betta plant. Piranha Joe (our at home betta) is doing just fine...don't ask me why I didn't buy the same plant for Mickey...just stupid I guess.
