Question about my tank and Lack of any Algae.
My tank has been going for a good 3-4 months. My question is I never have any algae. I think my pleco died because there was nothing for him to eat. My tank to clean? I do water changes like 1 time a week maybe 20%. Its a 10gallon with one 4 inch oscar. (im moving to a bigger tank in 3 weeks, please dont tell me he needs to be moved, I know...)[/list]
Well, you could have fed your plec algae discs, but we won't dwell on that.
Feel blessed. Your tank is very well balanced for your scheme. Algae growth is a sign of excesses. Excess food and excess nutrients. now if you had plants you may find that your current balance is ineffective.
It's good to hear your getting a new tank :) What size? I'm a curious little thing.
Here is the story. I live in a dorm room. I had a 30 gallon all set up, but decided to go away for college this year. Got rid of my set up, and then felt the need to start another fish tank. I bought a baby oscar maybe 1.5 inches long. He is now a good 4 inches long if not longer and looks very happy. When I get back to my parents house, he will move into my 30 gallon tank. Then... I am moving into a apartment like a month later (parents don't want me.) And i plan to get him like a 75 gallon or so. Can't wait, I have never had that big of tank, should be fun!!
Here are a few pictures, the first one is from when I bought him, then the rest I just took now.
You like Bud Light? :)
"And most importantly, when someone asks you for a Bud light, you say..."
"No speak English"
I love the BG.
Mr. Oscar is gorgeous too. I would get one, but alas, no room. It is great you will give him a 75G in the long run.
Haha, he's cute!!!! You're getting a 1st floor apartment?
Still working on a apartment and its finally my last year of college. His bigger tank may take some time, but a 30 gallon will be good for a while. One thing for sure though, hes getting a under gravel filter in his new tank. He ****s everywhere. HAHA
Try getting a reverse flow powerhead, attach it to it, it will cause stuff to actually rise into the water instead of being sucked into the gravel and then you have a small HOB to pick it up. It's herefishy's favorite method.
