Im trying to breed my Spotted Cories but im having a hard time. I found online that simulating rain by taking an ice cube tray and poking holes under each cube then letting it melt on top of the tank was a shure way of getting them in the mood. :brow: In fact it said they would get it on overnight and you could get your first batch almost instantaly.
So is it true? Dont wanna try it unless I know someone has had luck with it, despite the fact that im desperate for some cory fry :lol:

Hi tangy. "Spotted Cory" covers a lot of territory. You may be trying to spawn a specie that has never been spawned in captivity. Knowing what you have, their sex and age, are preliminary to any attempted spawnings.
That's a very complicated way of doing a temperature drop, which is a generally accepted Cory spawning trigger. Simply remove 50% of the water from your tank and replace it with water that is 10º cooler than what you took out. After filling the tank you will have lowered the temperature enough to "trigger" the spawning cycle.
I would not hold my breath. It can take many attempts. Not saying it can't happen on the first go around, but I'd steel myself for a few failed attempts, before expecting to see any wrigglers.
Personally, I do not employ any spawning triggers as such. I just condition properly, change water 2x per week and let Mother Nature do her thing. A high degree of patience is required.

well the above member pretty much covered it well, all i would have said is to drop the temp and then rise up slowly, thats how i get my cory's to spawn
