Breeding Clownfish
 

How do Clownfish breed? What do they need to feel comfortable and whats the best environment? sorrry im a newb!!

Clownfish are egg layers, typically a cave spawner. To feel comfortable they need places to hide, compatible tank mates, good food, and large enough tank for the animals in it.

Breeding clownfish in captivity is very difficult. Getting them to spawn isn't so hard, but trying to raise the fry is not only expensive but takes a very very long time. Its for this reason that in lfs's, tank raised clownfish are more expensive than those that are wild caught. The fry go through a very long larval stage, which makes it a very long term commitment, a lot of work and attention to detail, and expensive... not to mention, again... difficult. Many people will see eggs in a home aquarium if they have a mated pair and conditions are good for it, but I have never heard of anyone actually getting fry unless they are specifically breeding and prepared for it, and the eggs are removed and hatched seperately. Again, not typical in a home aquarium.
