Make sure that one is a male and one is a female. But, that is kind of obvious, eh? Paradise fish breed as any other anabetid. I have never had any luck, or at least minimal luck, in "forcing" fish to breed. Nature always stays her course. I would add a floating plant, such as elodea, to offer some security and serve as an anchor for the bubble nest. Feed high grade foods and supplement with live feedings of brine shrimp, black worms, ect to condition the pair.

yea so you think they will breed if i dont do anything special or do i have to make them feel extremely comfortable

In which scenario do you feel best, an uncomfortable setting or on in which you feel at home? Should be quite obvious, eh? Provide them with food and security and it will be to your advantage.

The may edition of Tropical Fish Hobbiest has an entire article chronicling the breeding of these guys. Be forewarned, they're very territorial when full grown, like a meaner version of bettas, so you won't be able to keep them together, even if they are different genders. I believe in this article the male only tolerated the female until day 8 after spawning, and then began to attack her and she had to be removed. I believe the most effective way of breeding them would be to follow the guidelines for breeding bettas.
