alternatives to elodea

So... I tried to get my LFS to order me some elodea for my betta tank. Turns out its illegal to distribute the stuff in connecticut due to restrictions based on environmental concerns!

What would make a good substitute for elodea?

Wisteria, primrose, aponogetons, crypts, pennywort, foxtail, cabomba. All are good ones to try.

Is there a specific look you want or just want a fast growing low light plant?

Hey beetlebz,

Here are some great alternatives to elodea, same style of plant:

Pennywort, Brazilian (Hydrocotyle Leucocephala)
Myrio, Green (Myrio pinnatum)
Mayaca (Mayaca fluviatilis)
Contortion Vals
Diandra (Didiplis diandra)
Ludwigia, Needle Leaf (Ludwigia arcuata)

And you can visit http://www.aquariumplants.com/SearchResults.asp for plenty more plants.
