Cuckoo Catfish Question

I know that the cuckoo catfish (synodontis multipunctatus) breeds by taking advantage of haplochromine mouthbrooders. But do cuckoo catfish NEED to be kept with mouthbrooding cichlids? Can a group be kept on their own if I don't care whether they breed or not?

Yes you can keep them so long as they have buddie's.Are social species, like loaches.
Will eat about anything offered and grow to around seven inches fairly quickly.
I kept five with Electric blue Dempsey in 75 gal for close to a year. They then were a bit too large for the 75 gal in my view so I traded them for store credit.

Oh fantastic. I really wasn't sure if they NEEDED their mouthbrooding buddies to survive or just to breed. I plan on obtaining a small group in the near future to put in what will hopefully be a 200gal or more. Thanks 1077.
