New babies darker than others, Have i done something wrong?
I have a question...... One of my guppies gave birth this morning. I was able to save 10 fry. Only 2 of them are more transparent than the others. They are really darker than the other 2 are. Not sure which male got them. I am worried that something may be wrong or I did something wrong. Can someone please help?
Without seeing photos and going off just your description I don't think there is anything to be alarmed about at all - sounds completely normal. There can be quite a range of physical appearance in one brood of fry.
Agreed. Are both parents the same color? Do you have more than one male? That could account for 2 colored fry. Also how long have you had the female as they can hold sperm for a long time, long after you may have brought her home from the store. That would possibly account for 2 different males being the possible Dads and therefore different colors. Just a thought?
I have had the female for several months..... But I only just noticed her gravid spot about a month ago, moved her and one more female into my 5 gal about a week ago.... I only had 2 males at that time. both are of different colors, one is half black and looks like he is wearing a tux , the other one is multi colored.
All my platy fry , all 46 looked the same as why I thought that maybe I had missed something or done something wrong.
