Anecdotal evidence on live rock hitchhikers
After a heater goofed and boiled my tank to 97 degrees F, i was initially concerned about the health of any hitchhikers that would have been in the live rock as well as the nitrosoma and nitrobacter themselves. Fortunately
after get my water parameters back to normal and the cycle being finished, they are all starting to pop back out
For future knowledge the things that can survive 97 degree water are
all the good bacteria
If anyone could id my bristle that would be amazing. i cant find out why it is half blue
Glad to hear things worked out for you.
One thing to keep in mind is that, chances are, unless your tank was at 97 for several days, that the rock would provide substantial insulation from the heat. It would take quite some time for the water inside of the rock to attain those higher temps. Any life that has the ability to retract itself into the rock would have considerable protection and therefore, have a greater chance of survival.
that is an Eurythoe species fireworm of some sort, they are very benificial scavengers but do deliver a painful sting, so be cautious. The dark blue coloration is the internal organs, (gonads), which are more visible on certian individuals than others.
