Help about Pond
Helo i have a pond since i kid
there was a good waterfall & nice fish :?
but since past 5 years the pump for the waterfall has been remove.
so the water was more calm...
i have a few question
1. One years my fish live at pond, with no water sirculate.
- did my fish get stress?
- when i put a bubbles & filter there was so happy, but what if i put thats out?
2. About water polution
- there is to much fish feces (what is says? :? ) with what i can clean them? i mean without deplete or maintain the pond. But with another species.
- I have this kind of pleco in my pond
20 cm, and this fish didnt help to much :( i think i wanna give for my neighbour. i scare if the pleco getting bigger an bigger :?
- If i put a Snail, may them eat a my cute moss?
- How about a shrimp? they will eat the Fish waste?
i think that was my question :)
sorry if i get a wrong setence
please do not worry about your English, we are able to understand it. :)
if you remove the filter you will remove the good bacteria in it which is breaking down the waste produced by the fish (NH3, NO2 and converting them to harmless NO3)
I do not advise that you remove the filter, only clean the sponges etcetera
in pond water every 3 or 4 months.
do this by removing some pond water and using this to clean the filter parts, then top the pond up with tap water, or whatever you usually use for this.
if your pond is getting a lot of waste gathering on the bottom then your filter is most likely too small for the size of pond. you could either invest in a larger pump for the filter or periodically hire a pond vacuum and suck the muck out that way.
your pleco looks like a common plec Hypostomus plecostomus and can reach just under 50cm (not including the tail fin) so it is probably best to re-home it.
depending on the species of snail, yes it could very well eat your moss, perhaps if they are available in your country you could add apple snails Pomacea bridgesii as they tend to prefer algae
no shrimp will not eat any fish waste, but they will add another dimension to your ecosystem and will in some way be of benefit .
I hope this helps you
thanks for reply
yes when i was a kid i have an apple snail, is called 'keong mas' in my country.
But i think shes leavin the pond. Because when rains come, my pond will get flood. And small fish will gone forever
Thanks for advice, i think i should buy a shrimp, snail, and new water pump for the waterfall
Plecos if anything will just make more poop lol :D
what is poop? :?

use a filter for aquarium
 dont eat them...
