Are these a good pair?
I think so my self but here are what fish i have. I have a ten gallon tank with hard water, from a natural spring. I have 2 small plants, and a small castle. My fish are 4 guppies 3 female and one male, two kuhli loaches probobly 1-1.5 years old. Then i have 2 ghost shrimp, i think their female because they have bands on them.
Are They all a good pair?
Is my tank good for guppy fry? Because i have none so far, and i want to do the whole natural selection/survival of the fittest with no breeding box
At the moment you are not overstocked. But assuming the guppy begin spawning, you very soon will be. I would not recommend female livebearers in a 10g with a male unless you have other tanks in which to move the fry as they appear and grow a bit. If this is not done, the fry will be stunted and likely of poor health. Sadly, the guppy is a species that is in very poor shape these days as it is, due to the successive generations of inbreeding, so health problems are more rampant.
And remember that once impregnated, a female guppy will give birth to many broods, and they are large.
The kuhli loach would be better in a bit larger group, 3 is mentioned in our profile as absolute minimum but this species like all loaches is highly social, so 5 would be better for the fish. But this would be more doable in a 20g or better yet a 20g long tank. This species would also be better in soft, slightly acidic water which is the opposite of what livebearers need. However, having said all that, if you have had these two for more than a year, leave well enough alone.
Thank you so much, i love this community where in which my questions get answered in less than five minuets!
