Can I use Real but not live Coral as decor in fresh water Aq

I got a white real coral but not a live one from LFS. I'm not sure whether I can add this as a decor to my fresh water tank. Kindly advice me on this.

Thanks!

hi
i wouldn't advise it,it will alter your PH,and i would have thought looked out of place, could also be an issue with fish damaging
themselves.
hang on for others advise though i could be totally wrong.

It will bleed calcium into the water, raising your pH. Not sure by how much, it would depend largely on your tank size, the size of the piece, etc.

If you have fish that prefer higher ph levels, you'll be fine imo.

LFS guy told me Gold fish needs higher PH level and its ok to use those coral. Is that right ?

Are you talking about crushed coral substrate or pieces of dead coral? Substrate would be ok. I have been told that dead coral will diintergrate in freshwater. Turn to much. So, not wanting to tempt the gods, I've never tried it.
