plant / decoration ideas
pretty minimal right now i want to get more live plants but i dont know what would grow well / look good with this. im pretty new to this fish keeping (a year) so i dont know very many species
I like the way anubias looks. You could attach it to the driftwood and it wood attach it self.
If that plant in the back is Java Fern, I would attach it to one end of the wood. With the rhizome buried in the sand, it may well rot. You can read more about this plant, and the others, in our profiles, second heading from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. Or click on the shaded names in posts to see that species' profile.
The large plant is a sword, probably Echinodorus bleherae which is the most commonly seen species.
Other good plants would be pygmy chain sword or chain sword. [Click names for pics.] Crypts (we have a few species on the profiles under the substrate-rooted category) are another possibility, though these are more sensitive. The two swords mentioned will establish and spread rapidly.
Floating lants are always nice. Water Sprite, or Brazilian Pennywort allowed to float works well.
Are you adding any plant fertilizer? If yes, which one(s)?
thanks for the replies guys :). i was using seachem flourish but i only have 2 plants in here now so im not adding it anymore until i get more plants
I would use Flourish Comprehensive once weekly, and also consider Flourish tabs with one placed next to the roots every 3 months. The root tabs make a real difference to swords. But as some nutrients must be taken up via the leaves, you need the liquid too. Liquid alone can suffice, usually.
