these are geneticaly modified or thats what ive been told. i do not belive they are died but have had some kind of genetic splicing. i could be wrong as this is just what several of my lfs have told me.

check petsoultions.com i think i saw them for sale under glolite tetra.not 100 % sure though

They look like gentically modifed glo fish to me too. Should actually be natural breeding stock now. If they can be considered natural. Look cool and last I saw they are bred on mass scale now so each to their own.

sorry it was glofish. above post is correct. a zebra danio? that has been modified?

Lupin 03-22-2008 09:31 PM

They're zebra danios whose genes have been modified. I don't like them. They look ugly IMO despite not being dyed and are more expensive than the original zebra danios. Why spend more when you can get plenty other fish with natural beauty?

thanks for all the replys. i think they look cool. i just wanted to make sure that they werent injected. if their genes were altered that means if they gave birth their fry would be glofish too, right?

fish_4_all 03-23-2008 03:35 PM

Yes, from what I have been able to find they are mass bred now for the hobby.

crazy4fish 03-23-2008 06:07 PM

how easy to breed are they?
