Is this over-stocking?
I have a single male betta, four African Dwarf Frogs and a Singapore Bamboo shrimp in a ten gallon tank, very well planted, filtered and heated with sand substrate. I've had the tank running for over two years now, and my newest addition, the Bamboo Shrimp, has done well in there over the last couple weeks. When I got her she was grey and black, the color of a rock, but now she's a nice dark brown/red color with a lovely yellow stripe.
I hear they like to be in pairs at the least, and I'd like to get a second one now that I see she's doing well. But would it be ok in a tank that small, even with so many plants? Eventually I'd like them to be in my 55 gallon planted community tank, but right now it's only a couple months old and probably wouldn't have enough food for them. I do supplement her anyways(just in case), with daphnia, dusted up algae and baby brine shrimp. She's grown well and seems to be happy. So would that be able to support all of them properly?
What kind of filter are you running on it?
Oh that's right, I forgot to mention the filter type! Dur me. lol Uhm, I'm not positive on it for sure myself, it came with the ten gallon tank in a starter kit, though I do know it's an Aqueon Quietflow, I do not know how much power it has to number down for you. I am assuming it's got enough power for 15-20 gallons though, it's rather powerful and I've had to slow it down a little bit so it doesn't blow my betta across the tank. ^^; It's still enough to make my plants wiggle a little bit.
No you have plenty of room yoiu can actually add like 2 more bamboo shrimp if you'd like. I used Aqadvisor to check your aquarium.
Haha, be that as it may, only one more should suffice. Better to be a tad under-stocked than over it in my opinion, and they do get pretty big, so I'd rather them have room to move around over being in the...three's a crowd situation.
Thanks guys! =)
