Does anyone know about Guppies and their impact on planted aquarium?
Does anyone have experience keeping guppies in the planted aquarium in a long time? I have full of plant aquarium and would like to use guppies beside plants. I want to know about advantages and disadvantages of using guppies in planted aquarium. The important thing to me is healthy of plants. In addition, I want to know how many guppies can be keep in 15 gallon water.
Have a read of the following link, it will give you a very good start :-) Until someone with guppy experience comes along anyway, because I'm not experienced with them :-D
Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) Profile
In my short experience Guppies are a fairly easy fish to keep. Mine is full of personality. The problem is the females breed very rapidly so I would suggest a male only tank. The males are prettier anyway. In a 15gal I would say 10 guppies would be good. The plants will help keep your parameters in check.
Guppies are a pretty harmless fish as far as any potential damage to the plants. However, due to the limited size of your tank and the heavy planting I would suggest a male only colony to avoid overpopulation (they breed rapidly and the plants will only increase the survival rates of fry by providing good cover for them).
What are your basic water parameters?
All of them were descendants of the original cycle trio.
