Normal Molly birthing behavior?

Hi All,

I have 4 female and 2 male molly. They started having babies in December, we had around 23 in total over around 2 and a half weeks.
We had another 7 in the middle of February followed by one Tuesday and another today. I'm not sure what molly is having what babies, I currently have one very fat female, one slightly smaller and 2 skinny ones.

Is it Normal for molly to have a kindof staggered birthing pattern like this? I'm guessing one of the ones that is currently skinny had the 7 last month and one (or both) of the fatter ones gave birth to the more recent two??

In December (I done know how many actually gave birth) they arrived in groups of 5, 3, 2 . . . . never one at a time

I'm a bit confused!!
Thanks for your help!

I would like to say yes. My guppies do much the same thing. I don't think I've ever had more than 5 babies born at once. usually I get a couple a week. Livebearers are able to have multiple batches of babies growing in them so it is possible that only a few were ready to be birthed while other batches were not. This would cause the fish not to shrink much which makes it difficult to tell exactly who was having the babies.

Hope I was able to help some :)
