Heart - Shaped Blood Parrots ???!!! HOW UGLY!!
Went to a LFS over the weekend. He had some of the ugliest fish I have ever seen in my life. They were calling them Heart - Shaped Parrots!! They had NO tail fin and the rear of the fish was concaved in so it was shaped like a heart. Can you picture this?? What a PITY!! For someone in the aquarium industry to take a deformity, breed it and purposely make more of the same for money is truly pathetic and to sell it is just as so. After thinking on this I may just tell him so at my next visit.

Yeah ive seen that too many times. its super controversial, i researched it and whatnot. half say its a deformity, half say they actually cut off the tail fins at birth and it just fleshes over! im more on the deformity side but ive never bred blood parrots, and i dont know anyone personally that has, so i cant say. a cool way to find out is to breed blood parrots until you get that nasty heart shape. the funny thing is they probably will live not as long because of the deformity, and usually there more expensive!

They're actually chopped off. No more, no less. I don't like it either if you ask me.

How SAD. :( With all the beautiful fishes there are, it just boggles my mind why anyone would want them. I only just saw them last week. Does anyone know how long this has been done? I wonder what the life expectancy or quality of life is for these poor creatures.
