A tale of 100 fish deaths
Ok so this is how the story begins: Our science, biology teacher received 100 trout eggs from a local fish hatchery at the beginning of January, then she put the eggs in and after about 3 weeks, they hatched. She was supposed to let the babies free on March 15, but she obviously had no idea what she was doing. Middle of February and the fish tank was really dirty and she never bothered to clean it. So, because of her not knowing how to take care of fish, the fish started dying one by one each day. This Monday I asked where the fish where and she said that they where dead. Let this be a lesson to all fish keepers, DON'T TAKE CARE OF FISH IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW!!!!! (P.S, I would've bought some carbon, do a 90% water change, and wash the gravel.)

Aww that's a shame!! Funny you would think that the hatchery would make sure she knew what she was doing?!! Had proper housing and releasing instructions to follow? I'm sure the eggs have a value since they are part of a revitalization lake/river program of some kind, and what is she going to say when she has no record of any release? Is there no follow up from the hatchery? Doesn't say much for the hatchery's procedures either does it?
That's is a shame... I'm sorry for your frustration!! Can you get another batch and be in charge of it? That would be fun!! To have a successful release!! (and teach the teacher!)

Yeah, felt really sad for the things, it seemed at some point as if she didn't even care anymore.:-(

lol crazy story, even crazier i can go and pick up 100 carp fry and bring them home. any idea what carp can do to a river system? yeah hatcherys dont really care they are makin their buck jsut like the chain stores. personally i think there should be much mroe strict regulations on hatcherys but then again there are plenty more important things for govt and alike to deal with right now.
