What's the best location for a H.O.B. filter...

I've a 55 gallon that's planted and the filter disturbance is blowing my floating plants everywhere . I know a canister would be best but that's not an option right now. It seems best to put it in the corner of one of the sides but I'm afraid their would not be enough circulation in tank. Putting it in the middle blows them around more. Is their an option that I should just stick with and deal with it? It does have an adjustable flow but then again I'm thinking not enough flow through the tank. Filter is a fluval c4. The plants floating are wisteria

I use a simple DIY baffle made from an empty water bottle. You just cut the neck and the bottom off a water bottle and cut it down the side - this will cause the water to flow outward along the back wall.
(Note: I actually used a soldering iron to burn holes in the plastic to let some water straight through, but this is optional.)

I'm completely lost on what your saying.
