Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia???
 

I got this plant from Petco. It was simply labelled as a Crypt. I have looked and asked a couple of ppl and we "think" it might be a Pontederiifolia but I was just curious what everyone else thought?

It has a piece of Hornwort in it LoL So over look that part but is this a Pontederiifolia?? If not what is it???

What about Cryptocoryne moehlmannii?? Kinda looks like that too? I stink at ID plants!!

Either seem possible. Kasselmann says the two species are almost indistinguishable, and when C. meohlmannii first appeared it was thought to be C. pontederiifolia. Only when it flowered was it seen to be a different species. She also says sometimes the slightly reddish leaves of C. pontederiifolia are distinguishable, but not always.

Does the whole leaf of Pontederiifolia turn reddish or is it the underside or what? Is this only in higher lighting??

Also is the care for both plants the same? I have read that Pontederiifolia is a easy Crypt to grow and does well in most setups. Have you had this plant? Is this true?

Check our profile, Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia. But, having said that...it was somewhat based upon my assumed plants, and I am never certain of the species I have since they never flower. Kasselmann does say both species have identical requirements and cultivation, and thus both are easy crypts.
