Cory Catfish? What kind are these? 3 Attachment(s) I bought 2 new Catfish for my 30 Gallon tank. The pet store only had these 2 left so I bought them together out of the same tank in the store. Are they Cory Catfish, and if so what kind are they? One has stripes and the other has little dots. Are they the same kind of catfish? They just look different from each other so I don't know. I thought that their snouts look a little long for regular type Cories, and they are bigger too. It could be my imagination IDK LOL Here are some pictures of them so you can get a better look at them both. The 1st picture is of them together (Also with one of my Otos wanting to get into the picture as well LOL) Then a picture of each one separately. |
They look a bit like the leopard cory Check out the profile Leopard Cory (Corydoras leopardus) Profile |
I believe Schwartz Cory. Leopards do not have the face masque. |
It is likely to be in the Corydoras schwartzi group. If you check the profile (click the shaded name) you will note it mentions striking similarity to a couple other species. Even photos allegedly of C. schwartzi are sometimes extremely variable. Pinning down this or that species is often only possible if one knows the stream from which the fish was collected [other than dissection of course]. The nice thing about corys is that whatever the species, you have a very attractive and peaceful fish.:-) Do you have other corys? If not, I would get a few more; it doesn't have to be this same species. The more corys the happier they will be. Aim for five minimum. Byron. |
I was going to say false julii, but they don't have the black spot on the dorsal fin hmm. |
