apisto pop control
Soo.... to be honest I never really figured on my apistos breeding for any number of reason, but hey, I guess fish have needs too. at any rate my 29 gal was stocked right to the brim as it were, and now I have about 8 .5" to 1" baby apistos swimming all about.
Whats the best way to handle the population boom? I really dont have any other tank to move them to. the water in my firebelly tank will kill them, the 110 tank they will be an appetizer, and my 10 gal is just about over stocked itself with the severum growing out in there.
since they are all from the same batch will the fry spawn with each other? If not I could always get maybe ONE more tank for them, but not if they are going to keep making more fry.
option B is giving them to any of the 3 or 4 LFS' where they will prolly just get flushed :(
Buy a 12g tank, foam filter, heater, and glass canopy. Use the water from the tank they are in to fill the tank. Only option I can recommend.
but... what happens when the 2 original apistos spawn again?
You don't have an LFS that will buy them from you or even take them for free and resell? The only LFS in my area that carries apistos charge like $10 apiece for them. I'm surprised they wouldn't want the fish.
I honestly didnt think without being a "breeder" they would resell my fish. but thats a neat idea :D ill go down there tomorrow!
Most lfs will take them. Ask the to trade for things you need like food for the other fish. They'll get their money back. I wish you were just a bit closer..I'd buy them from you!! Sounds like a good excuse to pull the barbs out of my 55 and fill with Apistos...my dream fishy
how far is browns mills from wildwood, NJ? im heading down there in the not too distant future lol
You have to drive past me to get to Wildwood! Heck..I'd do the drive to Wildwood not to have to pay $50 shipping!! Wildwood itself is only about 45 minutes from my house...we go down all the time! PM me what your thinking. I'd be happy to buy a few from you
