Celestial Pearl Danio w/ Black Spot on Peduncle or Tail Fin? Sick?
I recently purchased 10 celestial pearl danios on aquabid. They all arrived very pale but most quickly darkened up. However, one stayed very pale.
This fish seems to be the biggest of the lot. It has similar body pattern to the rest but her white spots seems larger. It is much much more pale than the others. I can see no black mark near the anal fin and maybe just a slight hint of orange in the fins. It seems skinnier than most. It does not swim with the group, which is a huge red flag to me since the rest stick together. It mostly just sits at the top. Annnnnd it has a definitive black spot on the peduncle or base of the tail fin. I have looked through dozens of CPD pictures and can not find a similar spot.
I tried to take some pictures, but it was hard. She is skittish of the camera.
It's the fish in the middle. The other two fish around her are just feeder guppies.
You can see the black spot a little better in this picture. Again, sorry for poor picture quality.
Is it sick? Is it a different species? Or is it just a sad example of a CPD?
Also, in the 10 fish lot, one has an obvious tail defect and one is grossly skinny with a sunken stomach.
