Please Help Me Identify This Fish!!
I bought a new (used) tank, and this fish(?) was among the established inhabitants that I inherited..even the seller had no idea what it was..we've just been calling her "Nessie", short for LochNessMonster, since she's pretty bizarre looking and everyone so far has been baffled as to what she is.
not 100% positive
Looks Like A Dysichthys Coracoideus
Not 100% positive but prety sure
defiantly one of the family Aspredinidae (Banjo catfishes)
as to exactly which one, that is going to be hard to determine from pictures alone.
personally I'd go with Busgod as Bunocephalus coracoideus is the most commonly seen in the trade.
just say it is a banjo catfish and leave it at that as there are no discernible differences in care for any of them.
Dysichthys is no longer the valid as taxon
the genus is now know as Bunocephalus
ok I stand corected :D
got the banjo right lol
how come they keep changing the names ?
lovely catfish by the way. :)
Neat pickup. I'd love to have one if I can see one.
Definitely a banjo of some description, though that's already been settled. Nice fish! :)
why not change the name after a few years studying something.
that way they get more money to study something else :)
no clue exactly what kind of fish it is but the name deffinately fits her.
